Why do little mindfulness moments like the STOP practice? That little pause—feeling the feet on the floor, the hand on the doorknob--gives you a chance to check in and ask how you want to be in the next moment. It brings more of your entire self into play, rather than being at the whim of whatever thoughts or emotions show up in reaction to what is happening. Note that it isn’t entirely about the pause that refreshes. It is about the pause that remembers.
