The teacher Sam Harris points out that we are all experts at one thing, and that is practicing being the same person we were yesterday. Mindfulness can help you appreciate the places where being the same person is a good thing, and also see those places where it maybe isn’t so helpful. And then, little by little, you can take charge of who you want to be rather than feeling like you are stuck standing still. Or at least that is the idea. I assure you it is always a work in progress for me!
