Turn of phrase.

I was on a retreat run by the amazing and unique teacher Matthew Brensilver, and he quoted this from Ayad Akhtar’s book Homeland Elegies.

“…the bright pliancy of human sentience—attention itself—[has] become the world’s most prized commodity, the very movements of our minds transformed into streams of unceasing revenue for someone, somewhere.”

I haven’t read the book, but it seemed that a phrase like, “the bright pliancy of human sentience” just had to be re-posted. And the irony of my posting it on Facebook and Instagram shouldn’t be lost on anyone!
